South Africa’s petroleum industry is big business, with petrol and diesel being the major liquid fuels that are used in the country. To sell fuel to end-users, retailers such as service stations need to be registered and licenced with the appropriate institutions. It’s a cut-throat industry and the initial entry costs just to do business can be extremely high. Now illegal operators have entered the market to sell fuel cheaply and undercut legitimate traders. Carte Blanche goes undercover to expose some of these illicit dealers.
